"A fantastic victory for the Lib Dems and a major blow for Cameron & Brown" was Graham Oakes' reaction to the Dunfermline & West Fife by election.

"Willie will make an excellent M.P." Graham, the Lib Dem candidate in South Dorset at the 2005 General Election, has known Willie Rennie, the newly elected Lib Dem MP for many years. Willie used to live in the South West and they campaigned together on a number of issues before Willie returned to his native Scotland.

"This result is a major boost for the Party following the trauma of losing our Leader and some sections of the press attacks on the leadership candidates. Coming on the back of an excellent showing in the Swanage by-election South Dorset Liberal Democrats can look forward to 2006 with some confidence."
