Conservative takes Swanage by-election seat

2.13.01pm GMT Sat 4th Feb 2006

Turnout was around 32 % (tbc), not bad for a wet February day, with Lib Dem gaining its highest percentage in the ward for many years, but the by-election in this strongly Conservative ward did return a Conservative. Results were:

Conservative (Gloria Marsh) 631 (49.6%)

Liberal Democrat (Peter Clark) 507 (39.88%)

Labour (Christine Rabsom) 133 (10.4%)

So Swanage Town Council now comprises:

10 Conservatives, I Lib Dem and 1 Labour
