5.31.45pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 4th May 2005

With only a few hours of campaigning left Graham Oakes has commented on the his final canvass returns.

"At the beginning of the campaign we were surprised at the strength of our support across South Dorset. We had underestimated our support and ran out of posters in the first week! Since then our latest posters have been appearing everywhere."

"Our canvass data shows us winning several County Council seats and having a good result in the General Election."

"In line with national trends the number of undecided voters is greater than the gap between the three parties!"

"Whilst the other parties will not share their canvass data with us, the attacks by both of them on us over the past week proves they consider us a threat."

"If everyone who wants to vote Liberal Democrat does, instead of voting against the Tories or Labour, we will win South Dorset."

"Four years ago we were well third, last year we topped the poll. This year with the help of Ed Matts and Tony Blair I expect do well."
