4.25.18pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 26th Apr 2005

Graham Oakes has signed Shelter's housing pledge. He has pledged to campaign for affordable housing in South Dorset if elected on 5th May.

Graham commented "It's estimated 75,000 children live in bad housing in the South West. This is totally unacceptable."

"I am committed to campaigning for quality affordable housing."

"In recent years much of the affordable housing is built to the minimum standards in high density groups — the ghettos of tomorrow."

"There is a clear link between poor housing and relationship breakdowns, physical & mental health and crime."

"People tend to think of poverty and homelessness as big city problems but they are real and present here in South Dorset."

"I am happy to work with Shelter to achieve decent housing for all."
