Campaigning for South Dorset

Phil Duffy

2.29.52pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 5th Apr 2005

Lib Dem PPC Graham Oakes has paid tribute to Phil Duffy who passed away on Friday.

"Phil was a remarkable man. He fought his battle with cancer with determination and optimism. He was a naturally warm person who knew his area like the back of his hand. It can be no surprise that he held his council seat for so long. Only a few days ago he was talking confidently about the forthcoming election, of his desire to hold his seat and help me in my campaign. He will be missed by everyone, of whatever ever political view, who knew him."

Phil Duffy was a County Councillor for Purberck Hills for 20 years. He was also a parish councillor in Corfe and a District Councillor. He had held a number of key council posts over the years.

Before his retirement he was an Inspector for Wessex Water.
